Project overview

One of the most promising architectures for building a quantum computer is so-called measurement-based quantum computing in which a large entangled quantum state, called a cluster state, is subjected to a series of measurements that drive the computation forward. Pieter Kok and his team study how to create these cluster states in the most efficient and accurate way, given physically realistic systems and detectors. One of the most promising methods is to use matter qubits such as trapper ions, NV centers in diamond, or quantum dots, and entangle them via an optical method called “double heralding”.
